The Pacific Nursing Workforce Education Program (PNWEP) Scholarship
The ELMSN Program received funds to offer scholarships, aiming to increase recruitment of students from educationally/economically disadvantaged backgrounds and/or from health provider shortage areas (HPSA) and registered nurse shortage areas (RNSA) in California. This includes the Central Valley, which is listed as a nursing shortage area. The scholarship is valued at $40,000 over the course of six trimesters.

- Nursing HRSA Conditions:
- By applying for this scholarship, you agree to the following academic conditions: 1. Remain in academic good standing. 2. Earn a minimum of a C + (77%) for all prelicensure nursing courses. 3. Earn a minimum of a B- (80 %) for successful completion of all master’s nursing courses. 4. Earn a minimum trimester and cumulative GPA of 3, including a Pass grade in ungraded courses. 5. Maintain full-time student status and complete all required ELMSN courses and scheduled activities. 6. Abide by the ELMSN Student Handbook, including professionalism and interpersonal communication issues.
- By applying for this scholarship, you agree to the following programmatic conditions: 1. Work in a rural or medically underserved community within California in acute or long-term care for two years upon graduation. 2. Participate in planned grant events, activities, mentoring, and tutoring. 3. Participate in all research associated with this grant. 4. Participate in federally designated evaluations to assess program effectiveness and efficiency. This includes sharing your name, demographics, and employment information with HRSA. 5. Clinical placements in nursing workforce shortage areas (i.e., Stockton). 6. Complete Quality Improvement capstone project in long term care. 7. Complete a total of 70 hours in long term care experiences. 8. Remain in contact with the Nursing Department for a minimum of two years post-graduation to provide updates on items such as employment status.

- Note: If you are borrowing up to the cost of attendance for the academic year, your graduate PLUS loan may be reduced by the amount of the scholarship.
